Job summary

The Bedford Sixth Form, part of The Bedford College Group, is hiring a Progress and Development Tutor. The role involves life skills teaching, planning and assessment, and safeguarding within a supportive college community in Bedford.

The position is fixed-term, full-time, 37 hours/week across 41 weeks per year, with a pro rata salary of £29,316–£34,394 and a commitment to staff development. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK; interviews on 4 September 2026.

Qualifications

• Must hold or be working towards a teaching qualification, with Level 2 English and Maths.
• Experience delivering engaging learning and supporting students across levels.
• Vocational industry knowledge and up-to-date professional expertise.

Responsibilities

• Life Skills Teaching & Student Development to develop learners' independence and progression.
• Plan schemes of work and lessons, create resources, differentiate, assess progress and record achievement.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment and manage behaviour and attendance.
• Contribute to course development, quality improvement, work experience and collaboration with organisations.
• Promote equality, safeguarding, health and safety, and support college events.
