Job summary

Roche in Welwyn is seeking a highly capable Machine Learning Engineer to build infrastructure that accelerates life-saving research and drug discovery. You will collaborate with scientists, ML experts, and DevOps to bring AI tools into day-to-day workflows.

You will own features end-to-end—from model evaluation to production deployment—while applying rigorous testing, clean code, and thorough documentation within a team that values mentorship and architectural excellence.

Qualifications

• You have a degree in a technical field and proven experience in ML engineering.
• Testing, clean code and documentation are foundational to scalable systems.
• Ability to work across ML lifecycle, from GPU optimization to backend systems and cloud-native architecture.

Responsibilities

• Build tools to evaluate AI/ML model performance and measure AI quality.
• Partner with product managers and scientists to translate needs into technical specs.
• Develop and maintain data systems for scientific data powering analytics and ML.
• Implement and evaluate new AI/ML algorithms and techniques.
• Own features end-to-end from evaluation to production deployment.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and development process improvements.
