Job summary

Hackney Borough Council is seeking a Licensing & Digital Media Officer for a 12-month fixed-term role across the Markets, Shop Fronts & Street Trading Service. Based at Ridley Road Office, you will combine regulatory leadership with creative digital storytelling to support traders and markets across Hackney.

You will deliver licensing functions, renew licences, process payments, prepare licensing panel docs, and compile occupancy statistics, while also planning and publishing content on TikTok,

Qualifications

Experience with licensing and regulatory processes in public-facing settings.
Strong digital media creation and storytelling skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Familiarity with public sector operations and governance.

Responsibilities

Deliver statutory licensing and registration functions under applicable regulations; issue and renew street trading licences; reconcile payments and arrears; prepare documents for Licensing Panel; support compliance and enforcement teams; compile occupancy and income statistics; provide on-site admin support, including weekends and public holidays.
