Job summary

Hackney Council is recruiting a Licensing & Digital Media Officer on a 12-month fixed-term basis. Based at Ridley Road Office and market sites, the role blends regulatory licensing leadership with creative digital storytelling to support traders and market sites across the borough.

You will issue licences, maintain digital records, plan content for TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, and monitor campaigns while ensuring WCAG 2.1 accessibility and brand compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in licensing in complex public settings with high accuracy.
• Ability to manage licensing journeys and reconcile payments.
• Experience creating digital content and analytics.
• Strong organisational and communication skills; inclusive approach.

Responsibilities

• Deliver statutory licensing and registration under the London Local Authorities Act.
• Issue and renew street trading licences within service timescales.
• Maintain auditable digital database records and prepare docs for panels.
• Support compliance and enforcement teams and monitor occupancy/income.
• Plan, film, edit and publish content to TikTok/Instagram/Facebook.
• Manage daily digital interactions and mentor traders in online marketing.
• Produce monthly performance analytics and ensure WCAG 2.1 accessibility.
• Work on-site during trading hours, including weekends and public holidays.
