About the Job:

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):

• Performs assessments and plans, implements, and provides personal and nursing care to patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team; the scope of skills varies according to the predictability of the outcome for the client population.
• Administers oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications following policies and procedures.
• Operates within the competency guidelines and full scope of practice outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), adhering to organizational policies, standards, and protocols.

This is a casual opportunity. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary with short notice shifts. Casual employees can apply for internal postings including permanent and temporary positions. Many opportunities with Interior Health start with casual employment and can lead to permanent roles.

Shifts include days and nights, scheduled rotating from 07:00 to 19:00 and 19:00 to 07:00.

About this location/unit:

Kootenay Lake Hospital is a Level 1 Community Hospital offering surgical, inpatient, and emergency services. The medical unit is a busy rural hospital ward in Nelson, funded for 27 beds with up to 3 overflow. RNs work 12-hour shifts, 24/7. On day shift, teams typically consist of 1 RN and 1 LPN for 8-10 patients; on night shift, 3 RNs and 1 LPN.
