About the Job:

The Registered Nurse:
• Practices in a perinatal clinical setting and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of client care.
• Works in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Ensures the delivery of client-centered care by assisting individual clients and their families in responding to changing healthcare needs.
• Demonstrates a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities.

This is a Relief Part-time (0.81) opportunity until November 04, 2026, or the return of the incumbent.
Shifts of work will be scheduled days and nights; rotating from 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 hours.

About this location/unit:
At Kootenay Lake Hospital, we have a very active maternity unit where all nurses cover labour, delivery, and postpartum, as well as some nursery for minor issues, growers, and infants being stabilized prior to transport out. Nurses must also be able to care for postoperative gyne surgery patients and overflow medical patients. There are three delivery suites, three postpartum beds, and ten bassinets with 350 deliveries a year.
