We’re Blind Veterans UK, a charity that helps vision-impaired ex-service people from every generation rebuild their lives after their sight has been affected. Founded in 1915, by Sir Arthur Pearson, to help the many veterans losing their sight after the First World War, we have over a century of experience providing the best care to our veterans.
Since then, we’ve provided support to tens of thousands of vision-impaired veterans, helping them to regain their independence. By providing our members with the tools and skills they need to lead a fulfilling and active life, we ensure they remain valued members of society.
We’re one transformational team that believes every vision-impaired veteran should be able to lead the life they choose.
We are now looking for a Membership Support Assistant to join us on a fixed term 12 month contract, working 35 hours per week.

The Role
As a Membership Support Assistant, you will deliver a high-quality first point of contact for new applicants for membership to Blind Veterans UK.
Ensuring a smooth and supportive admissions experience, you’ll coordinate the entire admissions process, including responding to enquiries from applicants and third-parties, distributing application packs, managing data entry, and verifying eligibility.
You’ll work with a large degree of autonomy, providing an excellent customer experience throughout the process, organising and supporting clinics and consultants and ensuring applicants feel welcomed and informed.
Additionally, you will:
- Support background checks for eligibility
- Maintain regular contact with potential members
- Offer guidance on the admissions process
- Liaise with partner organisations to ensure accurate advice is given
- Provide diary management for clinics and maintain records
About You
To be considered as a Membership Support Assistant, you will need:
- Experience managing the needs of people with a variety of physical disabilities
- Experience in a customer service/care environment
- The ability to prioritise conflicting objectives
- Good interpersonal and organisational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Please note, you must be prepared to travel and be away from home overnight when necessary.
