Job summary

Birmingham City Council is seeking a reliable Van Driver for the Library of Birmingham team. This role blends driving, stock handling, and customer service to ensure books and resources reach community libraries, homes, partners, and outreach locations.

You will carry out multi-drop deliveries across Birmingham, perform routine vehicle checks, and uphold health and safety standards. A clean C1 driving licence, ability to work independently or in a team, and good literacy and numeracy are

Qualifications

• Holds a full, clean, valid C1 driving licence.
• DVLA check required.
• Experience in multi-drop delivery.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and plan routes.
• Physically fit with safe manual handling.
• Works well independently and in a team.
• Good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and collect books, library stock, and other materials across Birmingham.
• Sort books and stock at the depot and on routes.
• Plan and complete efficient multi-drop delivery routes.
• Carry out routine vehicle checks and report maintenance needs.
• Report incidents to senior staff.
• Maintain high health and safety standards.
