Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking a Library Team Assistant at Hayling Island. You will deliver excellent customer service, run Story Time sessions, assist with digital access, and help visitors feel welcome in a busy library environment.

This part-time role offers fixed two-week rota shifts with no Sundays, a generous benefits package including the Local Government Pension Scheme and Health Assured's support services. Salary range £26,018–£27,111 per year.

Qualifications

Experience in a busy, customer-facing role.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Digital skills including Office/Workspace tools; willing to learn new systems.
Comfort using social media to engage with the community.

Responsibilities

Create a welcoming, inclusive space for customers of all ages.
Lead Story Time and Rhyme Time sessions and promote reading initiatives.
Carry out manual tasks such as moving furniture and setting up spaces for activities.
Assist customers with digital access and handle admin tasks (payments, calls, stock).
Promote library services via social media and work with external partners.
