Job summary

East Midlands Councils is seeking relief Library Assistants to work across Brimington, Old Whittington and Staveley libraries and/or the Chesterfield cluster libraries. The role is variable with no guaranteed hours, ideal for someone who enjoys a busy, customer-focused environment and a passion for public libraries.

You will be part of a supportive team, comfortable multi-tasking, handling queries, promoting library services, and able to work evenings or weekends when required.

Qualifications

• Excellent at multi-tasking, efficient, able to work under pressure and confident working alone if required.
• Passionate about what public libraries offer, and able to promote our services.
• Library experience is an advantage, but we also welcome candidates who have demonstrated exceptional customer service elsewhere.

Would you like to work as a relief member of staff in the Libraries across the

Brimington ,Old Whittington and Staveley libraries and/or the Chesterfield cluster libraries.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about Libraries, is an excellent team player, who is eager to learn and who thrives working in a fast-paced customer focused environment.

The successful candidate will be:

• Able to create a friendly and welcoming environment for a diverse range of customers
• Excellent at multi-tasking, efficient, happy to work under pressure & confident with working alone if required.
• Passionate about what public libraries offer, and able to promote our services.
• Confident in using IT (training will be given on specific library systems)

Library experience is an advantage, but we also welcome candidates who have demonstrated exceptional customer service elsewhere.

• There are no guaranteed hours with a Relief Library Assistant Contract.
• Library work can be physically demanding.
• Evening and weekend working may be required.
