Job summary

Exeter College seeks a Library Assistant to support library operations and reader services during term time. The role is based in the main College Library on our Turl Street site.

You will reshelve books, ensure labels and signage are clear and accurate, and provide out-of-hours reader services, answering enquiries and monitoring user behaviour. The position is part-time, 10 hours per week, 17:00–19:00, Monday to Friday during weeks 1–8 of term.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience in an academic library and using online catalogues is advantageous but not required.

Job description

Exeter College seeks to appoint a Library Assistant to support library operations and reader services during term time.


This role is based in the main College Library on our Turl Street site. You will be responsible for maintaining organisation and tidiness in the library by reshelving books and ensuring labels and signage are clear and accurate. You will also provide out-of-hours support for reader services, answering enquiries and monitoring user behaviour.


We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills, with strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. Experience of working in an academic library and using online library catalogues would be an advantage, but is not essential.


This is a part-time role, working 10 hours per week, 17:00-19:00 Monday-Friday during weeks 1-8 of term.


The rate of pay is £14.06 per hour.
