Job summary

Brown & Brown UK is seeking a Liability Claims Handler to manage Third-Party Property Damage claims and a small number of Personal Injury claims. You will investigate, validate, negotiate and settle in line with insurer philosophy and claims protocols.

Based in Basildon with hybrid remote work, you will assess liability, review evidence, manage reserves and escalate high-value cases. The role suits candidates with at least 3 years of TP Damage experience and a Cert CII, or progress towards Dip

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ TP Damage claims experience in insurer, MGA, broker or TPA.
• Experience with Personal Injury claims desirable.
• Cert CII and progress toward Dip CII beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of Third-Party Liability claims from notification to settlement.
• Handle a small portfolio of low-value Personal Injury claims.
• Review incident circumstances and determine liability based on evidence and insurer strategy.
• Analyse photographs, witness statements, engineering reports, repair estimates and invoices.
• Conduct detailed liability investigations and identify potential fraud indicators.
• Apply negligence law concepts (duty of care, causation, contributory negligence).
• Assess injury claims per legislation, protocols and insurer guidelines.
• Negotiate injury settlements with claimants, representatives and third-party insurers.
• Ensure reserves are reviewed and maintained accurately.
• Proactively manage claim lifecycles to meet service standards.
• Escalate technically complex or high-value claims as required.
• Maintain comprehensive file notes in the Pro-Claim system.
