Job summary

Brown & Brown Claims is seeking a Liability Claims Handler in Basildon to investigate, validate, negotiate and settle Third‑Party Property Damage claims, with an element of Personal Injury cases. You will work closely with brokers, claimants, solicitors and engineers to protect insurer interests.

The role requires at least 3 years’ experience in liability claims, with knowledge of policy coverage, medical evidence review and liability causation.

Qualifications

• Experience handling Third-Party Property Damage (TPPD) claims within insurer, MGA, broker or third‑party administrator environments.
• Desirable experience with Personal Injury claims and bodily injury principles.
• Understanding of negligence law, duty of care and causation as they relate to liability.
• Ability to manage a diverse caseload from straightforward to complex/high‑value claims.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of Third‑Party Liability claims from first notification through to settlement and closure.
• Manage a small portfolio of low‑value Personal Injury claims, including liability assessment and reserve management.
• Review incident circumstances to determine liability based on evidence, precedent and insurer strategy.
• Analyse supporting documentation such as photos, statements, reports and invoices.
• Conduct detailed liability investigations and identify potential fraud indicators or coverage concerns.
• Escalate high‑value or litigated claims for expert handling as required.
• Maintain accurate file notes and claim documentation on the Pro‑Claim system.
