Job summary

Transport for Wales is seeking an Insurance Claims Handler on a 12-month fixed-term contract, 30 hours per week, to administer claims, gather documentation, and assess liability and quantum while flagging fraudulent activity.

You will record claims, liaise with the Legal & Insurance Manager and TfW insurers, and negotiate settlements for valid claims while supporting process improvements and risk mitigation across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant Insurance or Legal qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience handling liability claims and assessing causation.
• Ability to interrogate data to identify root causes.

Responsibilities

• Record new insurance claims onto the system and maintain reserves.
• Request documentation from stakeholders to support liability and quantum.
• Assess documentation to identify fraudulent claims and advise on settlement.
• Liaise with the Legal & Insurance Manager and insurers to provide updates and instructions.
• Negotiate fair settlements with claimants or representatives in a timely manner.
• Monitor the claims system for accurate reporting and continuous improvement.
