Job summary

Biffa Waste Services is seeking a Training Supervisor at our Leicester Depot to drive high-quality training, onboarding and operational coaching across depots. You will help new starters settle in, support existing colleagues to develop skills, and promote a positive safety culture throughout the business.

You will deliver onboarding, coach drivers, provide practical depot-based training and monitor performance while maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with safety and Operator

Qualifications

• Essential: LGV Category C (Class 2) licence, Driver CPC, road safety knowledge.
• Essential: strong communication and interpersonal skills to coach and engage colleagues.
• Essential: good IT skills and ability to use business systems and MS Office.
• Essential: excellent organisation and time management with ability to manage priorities and deadlines.
• Desirable: health and safety qualification or Manager CPC, experience delivering training.

Responsibilities

• Deliver onboarding and induction for new starters.
• Coach and mentor drivers to improve driving standards and road safety.
• Provide depot-based training on vehicles and operations (defects, wheel torquing, manual handling, in-cab devices, tachographs, logbooks).
• Promote safety culture via toolbox talks, vehicle gates checks and crew monitoring.
• Support compliance with Operator Licence requirements and route risk targets.
• Assess performance and identify training needs with depot/Business Managers.
• Maintain training records and documentation.
• Identify and report risks and opportunities to improve safe systems of work.
• Assist with recruitment interviews and pre-driving assessments.
