Job summary

Biffa is seeking a Training Supervisor to lead onboarding, coaching and depot-based training across our Leicester region. You will ensure drivers gain the knowledge and practical skills to perform safely and efficiently while adhering to our safety standards and regulatory requirements.

You will deliver inductions, drive safety improvements and maintain training records, working closely with depot teams and Business Managers. A proactive safety mindset and willingness to travel are essential.

Qualifications

• A valid LGV Category C (Class 2) driving licence.
• Up-to-date Driver CPC.
• Excellent driving ability and a strong understanding of road safety.
• Knowledge of transport legislation and regulations for drivers and mobile workers.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-critical operational environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coach and engage colleagues at all levels.
• Proficient IT skills and confidence with business systems and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent organisation and time management with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines.
• Positive, proactive approach to health and safety, with the confidence to challenge unsafe behaviours.
• Willingness to travel across the region and stay away overnight occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Deliver onboarding and induction for new starters.
• Coach drivers to improve driving standards, road safety awareness and performance.
• Provide depot-based training across vehicles and operational activities.
• Promote safety through vehicle checks, toolbox talks and proactive risk identification.
• Support compliance with Operator Licence requirements and route risk assessments.
• Monitor and report on training needs and address gaps with depot teams.
• Maintain training records and assessment documentation in line with procedures.
• Assist with recruitment interviews and pre-driving assessments when required.
