Job summary

Schenk UK is seeking an experienced LGV Driver (Class 1 ADR) to join the team at Harwich, working Monday to Friday on a tramping pattern. The role offers potential yearly earnings around £65,000, with training periods and paid breaks as part of the package.

Essential requirements include LGV Class 1 licence (max six points), tachograph card, Driver CPC, and ADR with tanker experience preferred. Full PPE and paid CPC training are provided.

Qualifications

• LGV Class 1 licence with clean record.
• Valid Driver CPC and ADR (all classes except 1 & 7).
• Tachograph card and knowledge of transport regulations.

Responsibilities

• Drive LGV Class 1 vehicles on a Monday–Friday tramp route.
• Adhere to ADR and CPC requirements and safety procedures.
• Work at Harwich depot with paid breaks and overtime where applicable.
• Maintain vehicle and cargo security and compliance with legislation.

Job description

Schenk UK is an innovative, national tanker haulage business operating one of the largest road tanker fleets in the country. For over 60 years, we've proudly served the chemicals, gas, fuels, waste, and powders sectors, becoming the UK's largest chemical transporter.

We are looking for an experienced LGV Driver (Class 1 ADR) to join our team based at our Harwich depot, working Monday to Friday tramping. Potential yearly earnings of £65,000 per annum, please note this is an indicative figure.

Pay Rates:

• £162.80 per day during your training period. Once you have completed your training you will revert to the below pay agreement.
• Tramper driver Monday to Friday Occ Saturdays for return to base
• Hourly rate - up to 8 hours £16.54 - Overtime rate thereafter £24.81 per hour per day
• Guaranteed min pay 9 hours (8 hours at £16.54 plus 1 Hour O/T at £24.81 = £157.13 per day) for any weekday shift
• Guaranteed pay for nights away from Harwich (> 25 miles from depot) min pay 12 hours (8 hours at £16.54 plus 4 hours O/T at £24.81 = 231.56) plus night out payment £41.54 (some of the night out payment is taxable) Early starts payment (before 6 AM) £4.63 per day
• Voluntary and subject to availability - Weekend and Bank Holidays working attract enhanced payments
• All breaks are paid
• 25 days holiday (paid on average earnings)

Essential Requirements:

An LGV Class 1 licence with no more than six points

A tachograph card

A Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)

A valid ADR licence all classes other than 1 & 7 (Training available for the right candidate)

A strong understanding of Driver Transport Legislation

A safety focus

Minimum 2 years Class 1 experience

In unit sleeping required 2-5 times each week

Tanker Experience preferred.

In addition, overtime is available, CPC training hours, courses and CPC accreditation and driver medicals are all paid for. Full PPE is provided.
