Job summary

GSL Education - Manchester is recruiting a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to support pupils across KS2 in a primary school in Tameside. This full-time, long-term position starts September 2026 and involves providing targeted intervention and classroom support.

The role requires NVQ Level 3 TA (or equivalent), strong knowledge of the National Curriculum, and fluency in English. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and school leaders to promote inclusion and safe learning environments.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with primary pupils across KS1 and KS2.
  • Experience delivering phonics as part of intervention or differentiated group work.
  • Good working knowledge of the National Curriculum.
  • Willingness to undertake first aid and other relevant training.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with individuals and small groups of children, delivering intervention programmes and differentiated support.
  • Deliver phonics as part of intervention work or differentiated group teaching.
  • Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a positive role model and responding appropriately to individual needs.
  • Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils, encouraging cooperative engagement in activities.
  • Provide feedback to pupils on progress, achievement and behaviour, and mark and record work accurately.
  • Attend to children's personal needs, including minor first aid or specific procedures linked to diagnosed need (where trained).
  • Attend to pupils' pastoral needs, including social, health, physical hygiene and welfare matters.
  • Lead play activities as part of playtime and lunchtime provision.
  • Contribute to behaviour management strategies in line with the school's behaviour policy and individual behaviour plans.
  • Liaise constructively with parents/carers.
  • Accompany teachers and pupils on educational visits.
  • Assist in the supervision of classroom and outdoor activities.
  • Undertake all safeguarding training and follow procedures to keep the school community safe.
  • Possibility of providing emergency or short-term cover for whole classes, including associated planning, preparation, assessment and reporting, where appropriate.

Location: Tameside

Salary: £100-£125 per day (supply) / £25,989-£28,142 per annum pro rata (permanent)

Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term

Start Date: September 2026

We are recruiting a Level 3 Teaching Assistant for a primary school in Tameside, supporting pupils across KS2. This is a full-time, long-term role for an experienced TA who enjoys working closely with children and wants a settled position for September.

Main Purpose of the Role:

Under the guidance of class teachers, the SENDCo and school leaders, deliver learning opportunities for individuals, small groups and whole classes of children, with the possibility of providing short-term cover in the event of teacher absence.

Requirements:
  • Experience working with primary pupils across KS1 and KS2
  • Experience delivering phonics as part of intervention or differentiated group work
  • NVQ Level 3 (or working towards) for Teaching Assistants, or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Good working knowledge of the National Curriculum
  • Confident using behaviour management strategies
  • Ability to work well as part of a team, and to relate well to children and adults
  • Willingness to undertake first aid and other relevant training
  • Fluent, confident spoken English essential
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing demands across a class/year group

A fully enhanced DBS and two professional references covering the last two years are required
