Birdwell Primary School in Barnsley invites applications for a Teaching Assistant Apprentice. You will work under teachers to support learning, wellbeing and development while completing a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.

This apprenticeship offers hands-on experience in classroom activities, supporting groups and individuals, promoting positive behaviour, and developing ICT skills, with safeguarding responsibilities and access to staff training.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and committed Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join our dedicated school team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience working alongside experienced professionals while completing a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant Apprentice, you will work under the guidance of teachers and senior staff to support pupils' learning, wellbeing and development. You will help create a positive learning environment, assist in classroom activities and support children both individually and in groups.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting pupils to access learning activities and achieve their potential.
• Promoting positive behaviour, inclusion and independence.
• Assisting teachers with planning, preparation and classroom organisation.
• Supporting the use of ICT and learning resources.
• Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers.
• Contributing to the safeguarding and welfare of all children.

• Have a Level 2 qualification or relevant experience in a childcare setting.

• Have basic ICT skills and an understanding of child development.
• Are committed to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.

Previous experience working with children or in a school environment is desirable but not essential.
