Job summary

Randstad UK is partnering with a warm, inclusive specialist SEN school in Cambridge to recruit a Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant on a full-time, permanent basis (term-time).

The role supports pupils with SEND through 1:1 and small-group interventions, collaborating with class teachers, SENCOs, and therapists. Required qualifications include Level 3 TA and GCSE English/Maths; Enhanced DBS is essential; long-term career security with progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent recognised qualification).
• GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
• Demonstrable experience supporting pupils with SEND within a school, early years, or specialist setting.
• A warm, resilient, patient, and adaptable approach with excellent communication and team-working skills.
• Confidence to assist with personal care duties where required by pupil EHCPs.
• A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willingness to complete one).

Responsibilities

• Targeted Learning Support: Plan and deliver structured 1:1 and small-group learning interventions tailored to individual EHCP goals, adapting resources under the guidance of the class teacher.
• Specialist Need Support: Assist pupils with ASC, MLD/SLD, or SLCN.
• Communication & Visual Frameworks: Implement visual schedules, PECS, or basic Makaton to support language development and pupil independence.
• Behaviour & Sensory Regulation: Use nurture-focused strategies and sensory regulation breaks to support emotional well-being and positive behaviour.
• Personal Care & Wellbeing: Assist pupils with personal care, hygiene, and mobility needs as required by individual care plans.
• Observation & Tracking: Assess and record pupil responses during learning activities and contribute to progress tracking, EHCP reviews, and parent meetings.
