Job summary

Randstad UK is recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for Cambridge and surrounding areas on a permanent, full-time basis. You will work with class teachers, SENCOs, and therapy teams to support pupils with complex needs, lead small-group interventions, and cover planned absences.

The role requires a Level 4 HLTA or equivalent, strong SEN knowledge, and excellent classroom leadership. Commitment to safeguarding and ongoing SEN training is expected.

Qualifications

• HLTA status (Level 4) or equivalent recognised higher-level qualification.
• Experience supporting children with SEND in school or specialist provision.
• Strong knowledge of SEN Code of Practice and EHCP implementation.
• Excellent leadership and classroom management, with good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Cover and lead class activities to support PPA time and absences.
• Adapt learning to meet EHCP targets and individual needs.
• Direct and guide other teaching assistants for consistent support.
• Apply positive behaviour strategies to maintain an inclusive environment.
• Track pupil engagement and progress, reporting to teachers and SENCOs.
• Assist with personal care and mobility where required, preserving dignity.
