Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a primary SEMH school in Sutton Coldfield on a full-time, long-term contract with potential permanent progression for the right candidate. You will support primary pupils with SEMH, ASC and communication needs, following bespoke behaviour and risk management plans.

A Level 2 TA qualification or equivalent is required, with experience in primary SEMH settings.

Qualifications

• A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Experience supporting primary-aged pupils with SEMH and behaviours that challenge.
• Experience supporting pupils with ASC and communication difficulties.
• Understanding trauma-informed practice and attachment theory.

Responsibilities

• Support primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs daily.
• Work within bespoke behaviour, support and risk management plans.
• Contribute to 1:1 and small group sessions as required.

Salary: £90 - £110 per day

Are you calm under pressure, resilient and confident when supporting pupils who may present behaviours that challenge?

Do you have experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition / ASC and communication and interaction difficulties?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a primary SEMH school in Sutton Coldfield that supports pupils with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs. The school provides a supportive environment where a trauma-informed approach and an understanding of each pupil's individual needs are central to their education and wellbeing.

The school is looking to take on a Level 2 Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis, leading to a permanent position for the right Level 2 Teaching Assistant. The successful Level 2 Teaching Assistant will support primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs, including ASC and communication and interaction difficulties, working consistently within bespoke behaviour, support and risk management plans.

The successful Level 2 Teaching Assistant will have:

• A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant equivalent

• Experience successfully supporting primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs and behaviours that challenge

• Experience supporting pupils with ASC and communication and interaction difficulties

• A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, adverse childhood experiences and attachment theory

• Good curriculum knowledge and an understanding of how sensory, social and emotional needs can impact engagement and behaviour

• A calm, resilient and confident approach to supporting pupils
