Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Teaching Assistant for a SEMH school in Castle Bromwich. The role supports children aged 5–16 across primary and secondary settings, following EHCP targets and maintaining a calm, resilient approach with challenging behaviour.

The successful candidate will have Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualifications and experience with SEMH needs. Long-term engagement is expected, with PAYE payment and competitive rates of pay.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is required.
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs is essential.
• Experience working with pupils with EHCPs is preferred.

The setting provides a supportive environment for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, helping them to engage with education and work towards the outcomes identified within their EHCPs.

The school is looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant on a long-term basis from September. The successful Teaching Assistant will work across primary and secondary age groups, providing individual and classroom support, following EHCP targets and using a consistent and resilient approach when supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.

The successful Teaching Assistant will have:

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs
• Experience working with pupils with EHCPs
• Strong behaviour management skills
• The ability to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations
• A resilient, patient and proactive approach
