Functional area: Legal / Compliance

We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and confident Legal Counsel/Senior Legal Counsel (depending on experience) to support RWE’s expanding offshore wind business.

As part of the global Construction & Procurement Law team, you will collaborate with other legal team members and departments to provide comprehensive legal support for RWE’s international offshore wind projects.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Providing legal support for procurement, construction, and operation activities of RWE’s offshore wind projects.
  • Advising on, drafting, and negotiating construction and procurement contracts, including turbine supply agreements, foundation contracts, EPC, and turnkey contracts, component purchase agreements, service contracts, and maritime logistics agreements.
  • Acting as the primary legal contact for projects, coordinating with procurement and external legal advisors to ensure efficient legal support.
  • Monitoring legal issues across projects and advising management on risks, claims, and disputes.
  • Supporting dispute resolution processes, including liaising with external counsel.
  • Driving standardization and process improvements within the legal team.
  • Developing innovative legal solutions for complex project challenges.
  • Building effective cross-functional and cross-cultural relationships within RWE.

Skills and Experience

  • Qualified UK lawyer.
  • Several years of legal experience in private practice or in-house, preferably in energy or infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of international construction and procurement law standards (e.g., FIDIC, BIMCO).
  • Renewables or offshore wind experience is advantageous but not mandatory; candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in this field.
  • Ability to multitask, organize effectively, and work collaboratively.
  • Understanding of large infrastructure projects from a legal perspective.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
  • Engaged team player capable of working independently and in teams.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are beneficial. Willingness to travel occasionally.
