Our client, an international commodity and trading company, is seeking a Senior Legal Advisor specializing in shipping. The role involves supporting commodity and shipping transactions, particularly in the UK, handling trade and charter party contracts, and advising on legal matters related to oil, gas, and biofuels within a dynamic global environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Advising front-office teams on legal aspects of commodity transactions, including contract structuring and risk mitigation.
• Drafting and negotiating general terms, shipping documentation, and bespoke trade agreements.
• Supporting business continuity by identifying legal risks and proposing practical, business-aligned solutions.
• Managing engagement with external law firms to ensure cost-effective, high-quality legal support.
• Contributing to the development of legal policies, standards, and governance frameworks.
• Participating in cross-functional ESG initiatives, supporting sustainability through legal insights and compliance.

The ideal candidate will have experience in oil/gas, biofuels, or commodities trading and international shipping, with strong knowledge of English law. Fluency in English is required; German language skills are a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, with experience in contract negotiation and review, including dealings with Swiss entities.
