Legal Counsel

100% Remote

Salary: £90,000

Are you a qualified lawyer with 5+ PQE and experience in contentious construction? If so, this fully remote role could be your next career move.

Working as part of the Litigation & Disputes team, which is known for being hardworking, collaborative, resilient, and friendly, you will serve as a key liaison between the Legal Director, Senior Legal Counsel, and other team members.

Key responsibilities:

1. Providing efficient progression and resolution of litigation and disputes related to construction services provided to clients.
2. Locating, collating, reviewing, analyzing, and reporting on key materials related to disputes; jointly considering the merits of liability and quantum with Senior Legal Counsel to engage claimants and potential defendants for early commercial settlement.
3. Negotiating disputes at the pre-action stage to achieve early, efficient, and cost-effective resolutions with construction clients and suppliers.
4. Developing relationships with stakeholders and promoting the Litigation and Disputes team and the wider legal team within the business.
5. Engaging with external panel legal firms for litigation advice and assistance, ensuring effective cost management.

Key skills required:

1. Specialization in contentious construction disputes with experience in court proceedings in the High Court and TCC, including the Pre-Action Protocol for Construction and Engineering Disputes.
2. 5 – 8 years PQE.
3. Ability to work independently and manage complex construction disputes from inception to resolution.
4. Experience or openness to learning Co-Pilot and AI tools to improve efficiency.
5. Proficiency in drafting complex dispute-related documents, such as letters of claim and responses.
