Legal Counsel

100% Remote

Are you a qualified lawyer with 5+ PQE and experience in contentious construction? If so, this wholly remote role could be a great next step in your career.

Working as part of the Litigation & Disputes team, which is composed of hardworking, collaborative, resilient, and friendly professionals, you will serve as a key liaison between the Legal Director, Senior Legal Counsel, and other team members.

Key responsibilities include:

• Efficiently progressing and resolving litigation and disputes related to construction services provided to clients.
• Locating, collating, reviewing, analyzing, and reporting on key materials related to disputes, and working with Senior Legal Counsel to consider the merits regarding liability and quantum, with the aim of engaging claimants and potential defendants to reach early commercial settlements.
• Negotiating disputes at the pre-action stage to achieve early, efficient, and cost-effective resolutions with construction clients and suppliers.
• Building relationships with stakeholders and promoting the Litigation and Disputes team, as well as the wider legal team within the organization.
• Engaging with external panel legal firms for litigation advice and assistance, ensuring effective cost management.
• Ideally, you will be a specialist in contentious construction disputes with court experience in the High Court and TCC, including familiarity with the Pre-Action Protocol for Construction and Engineering Disputes.
• Possessing 5–8 years of PQE.
• Capable of working independently and managing complex construction disputes from inception to resolution.
• Experience with Co-Pilot or willingness to learn its use; embracing AI to improve efficiencies is essential.
• Ability to draft key correspondence and documents on complex disputes, such as defect and delay claims, letters of claim, and responses.
• Proven experience leading the resolution of construction disputes from start to finish.
