A confidential law firm is seeking a Compliance & Business Support Officer to manage client onboarding, AML checks, file management and internal audits.

This role involves completing CDD/AML onboarding, liaising with clients and fee earners, conducting internal file audits, and supporting SRA and Lexcel compliance. Hybrid, full-time, based in Stoke On Trent with a salary of £28,000-£35,000 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience within a law firm or legal services environment.
• Practical knowledge of CDD, AML and Source of Funds checks.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Familiarity with legal case management systems like Clio, LEAP, SOS or Proclaim.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and strong communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Manage the full lifecycle of legal files, from opening and CDD/AML onboarding through to closure and archiving.
• Complete client due diligence, identity checks, AML risk assessments and Source of Funds/Wealth checks.
• Liaise with clients and fee earners to obtain outstanding compliance information.
• Conduct internal file audits and identify missing documentation, risks and procedural issues.
• Assist with SRA and Lexcel compliance and preparation for external audits.
• Ensure files are closed, archived and retained in accordance with firm procedures and GDPR.
• Maintain compliance records, risk registers and internal databases.
• Provide practical support to fee earners and contribute to improvements in the firm's processes and procedures.
