Job summary

Wellspring Academy Trust is seeking a proactive Facilities Assistant to safeguard classrooms and grounds across our Leeds academies. You will deliver a clean, safe, secure learning and working environment, including daily site checks and minor repairs.

Working 40 hours per week between 7am and 7pm, 52 weeks per year, you will maintain buildings and outdoor areas, operate hand and power tools, assist with emergencies, and support Trust safeguarding and health & safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Ensure delivery of a clean, safe, secure learning and working environment.
• Take responsibility for the security and safety of buildings and grounds.
• Keep the site clean, tidy and free from litter, debris and leaves.
• Carry out minor repairs and maintenance across the school.
• Support with grounds maintenance, including collecting waste and maintaining outdoor areas.
• Move furniture and equipment as required.
• Identify maintenance issues and report concerns promptly.
• Carry out internal and external decorating.
• Operate hand tools, power tools and site machinery.
• Assist with emergencies, site enquiries and winter maintenance such as gritting paths.
• Conduct daily site checks to keep all areas safe for pupils and staff.
• Work in line with Trust policies, including safeguarding, Health & Safety, data protection and safer working practices.
