Job summary

Wellspring Academy Trust is seeking a Site Operative to help deliver a clean, safe, and secure learning environment across Leeds academies. The role covers building and grounds security, cleanliness, basic maintenance, and grounds upkeep, with a proactive approach to safety and reporting maintenance needs.

The position runs 40 hours per week between 7am and 7pm, 52 weeks per year. DBS checks are required due to work with pupils, and applicants should align with Trust safeguarding policies.

Qualifications

• Ensure a clean, safe, secure learning and working environment.
• Operate hand tools, power tools and site machinery.
• Inspect for hazards and report concerns promptly.
• DBS checks required; role involves working with children; safeguarding policies apply.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the security and safety of buildings and grounds.
• Keep the site clean, tidy and free from litter, debris and leaves.
• Carry out minor repairs and maintenance across the school.
• Support with grounds maintenance, including clearing waste and maintaining outdoor areas.
• Move furniture and equipment as required.
• Identify maintenance issues and report concerns.
• Carry out internal and external decorating.
• Operate hand tools, power tools and site machinery.
• Assist with emergencies, site enquiries and winter maintenance such as gritting paths.
• Conduct daily site checks to keep all areas safe for pupils and staff.
• Work in line with Trust policies, including safeguarding, Health & Safety, data protection and safer working practices.
