Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an Associate Director - Planning to lead our Leeds/Yorkshire presence. You will own regional growth, manage key client relationships, and shape the Leeds team with senior leadership and cross-office collaboration.

Based from a shared Leeds office, you’ll travel to Kent and London as needed, lead complex planning projects, and represent the firm at industry events, driving win rates and long-term market visibility.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a private planning consultancy.
• Experience at Associate Director, Senior Associate or equivalent level.
• Proven ability to deliver planning advice and manage complex projects and client relationships.
• Commercially minded with experience in business development and securing new work.
• Established network and knowledge of the Leeds/Yorkshire planning market.
• Strong understanding of local authorities and regional development landscapes.
• Willingness to travel to Kent and London periodically.

Responsibilities

• Take a senior leadership role to establish and develop the Leeds/Yorkshire presence.
• Represent the business and build a strong local profile and reputation.
• Lead delivery of high-quality planning advice and complex projects.
• Develop and maintain senior-level client relationships as a trusted adviser.
• Identify, secure and develop new business opportunities across the region.
• Represent the consultancy at meetings, events and industry forums.
• Utilise the Yorkshire network to generate new instructions and build long-term relationships.
• Support recruitment and growth of the Leeds team and mentor junior staff.
