Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer in Engineering to join the team on a full time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £31,930 to £42,454 pro rata per annum. (Unqualified teachers £25,297 to £31,930 pro rata per annum.)

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

About the role:

As the Lecturer in Engineering, you will continually improve the learning experience and achievement of students through effective teaching.


Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Engineering will include:

  • Teaching on courses as agreed with the Head of Curriculum to give an inspirational experience to all learner groups
  • Safeguarding and facilitating pastoral support where necessary to keep students safe and drive the very best outcomes and progression beyond/within the curriculum area
  • Preparing and marking student work to provide constructive feedback that drives rates of progress and achievement
  • Robustly tracking and monitoring progress towards individual targets
  • When required, providing progress reports to parents/carers in line with assessment and reporting cycle
  • Working closely with other colleagues to respond to the needs of students
  • Paying due attention to the principles of inclusive learning including:
    • individual learning styles and prior attainment;
    • support for students with SEND;
    • stretch and challenge for all learner groups based upon their start points;
    • general resources, including the use of Information Learning Technology.
  • Contributing to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the curriculum
  • Contributing to the teaching/learning resource bank for the relevant subject/course

As our Lecturer in Engineering, you’ll ideally have:

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification in relevant subject area
  • Appropriate teacher training qualification (or working towards this)
  • Excellent teaching skills
  • Strong knowledge of engineering and delivery of theoretical units on vocational programmes
  • Flexibility, rigour, resilience, highly organised and thorough
  • Empathy with and strong commitment to meeting the needs of individual students
