Job description

Aeronautical Engineering Lecturer

Salary:Up to £39,992 per annum, plus £3,000 per annum market supplement

Location:CEMAST, Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire

Contract Type:Permanent

Hours:37 hours per week

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated and skilled Aeronautical Engineering Lecturer. The successful candidate will also receive £3,000 per annum market supplement.

Duties:

  • Classroom teaching, tutorial work and associated outreach duties, residential, open and distance learning courses and student placements

  • All associated organisational and administrative work, preparation and marking and appropriate student welfare and academic counselling responsibilities;

  • Acting as a Personal Tutor to students as required and undertaking all of the associated duties including pastoral care support.

  • Making a full contribution to the team approach to learning and teaching.

  • Implementing a student-centred negotiated learning programme in accordance with the College’s curriculum framework.

  • Implementing agreed induction procedures and processes for students.

  • Ensuring that students are informed of what is expected of them at every stage of their programme and that an awareness of what the programme involves is a feature of all reviews undertaken with students.

  • Ensuring that appropriate assignments, tasks and activities are regularly set and assessed and that feedback is given to students in ways that will allow them to develop and achieve progression.

  • Contributing to the organisation of and ensure that there are appropriate work placements.

Skills/Experience:

  • Highly motivated professional with a range of industry experience and knowledge

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people at all ages and levels.

  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines within a busy environment.

  • Significant hands on manufacturing or maintenance work within the Aeronautical Engineering industry

Qualifications:

  • Minimum GCSE Grade 4/C in English & Maths or equivalent.

  • Level 3 qualification in the relevant area of expertise (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe)

  • Level 5 Teaching qualification (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe)

  • Assessor and Moderator Award (preferable).

Ideal Attributes:

  • Good working knowledge of IT tools (ECDL or equivalent level)

  • Adaptable and flexible in approach

  • Innovative and creative approach to work

  • Previous teaching experience or has supported apprentices in the workplace.
