Job summary

Dovetail and Slate Ltd is seeking a Lecturer in Building Services Engineering (mechanical and/or electrical design) for a permanent post in Yorkshire and the Humber. The role starts in October 2026 and focuses on delivering building services engineering programmes to develop learners’ technical knowledge and practical skills.

You will plan and deliver lessons across relevant qualifications, assess learners, and help shape a curriculum that reflects current industry standards and practice, while

Qualifications

• Significant industry experience in mechanical and/or electrical building services design.
• Strong technical knowledge relevant to building services engineering.
• Good communication skills and ability to engage learners of varying abilities.
• Desirable teaching qualification (PGCE, DTLLS, or equivalent).
• Experience teaching in a further education setting is desirable.
• Membership of a relevant professional body or industry qualifications desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons covering mechanical and/or electrical building services design.
• Assess learner progress and provide constructive, timely feedback.
• Prepare learners for practical assessments and examinations.
• Maintain links with industry to reflect current sector standards.
• Support learners' wider development, including behaviour, attendance and progression.

Skills

Education
