Job summary

New City College is seeking an enthusiastic Lecturer in Engineering for the Rainham Campus. You will teach and assess learners across Engineering programmes from Level 2 to HNC, including 14–19 provision, adults and apprentices, with topics spanning mechanical, electrical/electronic principles, mathematics, PLCs, microcontrollers and renewable energy.

You will develop learning activities, assessment plans and provide ongoing feedback, tutorials and support to help learners succeed.

Qualifications

• Qualified Engineer with industry experience.
• Willing to work towards a teaching qualification (PGCE, PTLLS or DTLLS).
• Experience developing assessment plans and schemes of work.
• A1 Assessor Award is required; V1 Award desirable; experience embedding e-learning.

Responsibilities

• Deliver teaching, training and assessment across Engineering qualifications.
• Plan and develop learner-centred activities, schemes of work and assessment plans.
• Assess and support students and apprentices from induction through to achievement.
• Provide regular feedback, tutorials and individual support to learners.
• Contribute to development and continuous improvement of Engineering programmes and qualifications.
• Collaborate with colleagues, employers, awarding bodies and partners.
• Maintain accurate learner, assessment and course records and contribute to QA processes.

Job description

Pay Range: £33,400 - £52,100 per annum. Placement on scale dependent on qualifications and experience.

Hours and weeks: 35 hrs per week, 52 weeks per year.

Contract Type: Permanent

Contract Term: Term time runs from Mid August to Mid July.

The Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Lecturer in Engineering to join our team at our Rainham Campus. You will teach and assess learners across a range of Engineering programmes, including 14 to 19 provision, adult learners and apprentices, with courses ranging from Level 2 through to HNC. Teaching may cover areas including mechanical and electrical/electronic principles, further mathematics and calculus, electronics, circuit design, PLCs, microcontrollers and renewable energy. You will play an important part in supporting learners to develop the technical knowledge, practical skills and confidence they need to achieve their qualifications and progress successfully.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging teaching, training and assessment across accredited Engineering qualifications.
• Plan and develop student-centred learning activities, schemes of work and assessment plans.
• Assess and support students and apprentices from induction through to successful achievement.
• Provide regular feedback, tutorials and individual support to help learners achieve their full potential.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Engineering programmes and qualifications.
• Work closely with colleagues, employers, awarding bodies and other partners.
• Maintain accurate learner, assessment and course records and contribute to quality assurance processes.

Who You Are:

You are a qualified Engineer with relevant industry experience and a passion for sharing your knowledge with the next generation of engineers. You will hold, or be willing to work towards, a relevant teaching or training qualification such as a PGCE, PTLLS or DTLLS.

You will have experience of developing assessment plans and schemes of work, along with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. An A1 Assessor Award is required, while a V1 Award and experience of embedding e-learning into course delivery are desirable. You will also have a strong commitment to equality, diversity and safeguarding.
