Job summary

The South Hampshire College Group seeks an experienced educator to deliver Electrical Installation across Levels 1–3, combining theory with practicals, inspection and testing, and fault finding. You will plan, prepare and assess learning, with tutorials and pastoral support, and contribute to curriculum development.

Qualifications

• Minimum GCSE Grade 4 / C or equivalent Maths and English.
• Minimum Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Installation.
• Desirable: Electrical ECS Gold Card / AM2 Certificate.
• Desirable: Level 5 Teaching qualification or progression plan.
• Desirable: Assessor and IQA Award.
• Desirable: Relevant degree or higher qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Deliver teaching across Electrical Installation at Levels 1–3.
• Plan, prepare and assess learning including marking and tutorials.
• Act as Course Leader for designated programmes with oversight of delivery.
• Support learner progression towards End Point Assessment.
• Maintain records including attendance, performance and destinations.
• Organise work placements and liaise with employers and external bodies.
• Contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance and self‑assessment.
• Participate in college events and teaching observations.

Duties

• Deliver teaching across Electrical Installation, including theory, practical skills, inspection & testing, fault diagnosis and design.
• Plan, prepare and assess learning, including marking, feedback, tutorials and pastoral support.
• Act as Course Leader for designated programmes, overseeing delivery, assessment schedules, quality processes and student progress.
• Support learner progression towards full occupational competence and successful End Point Assessment.
• Maintain accurate records including attendance, performance, destinations and awarding‑body requirements.
• Organise work placements and liaise with employers, parents/carers and external bodies.
• Contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance, self‑assessment and continuous improvement.
• Participate in college events such as open evenings, careers events and school liaison.
• Maintain professional competence through CPD, appraisal, and participation in teaching observations.

Skills/Experience

• Strong teaching and delivery skills across Electrical Installation at Levels 1–3.
• Experience delivering practical and theory sessions including inspection & testing and fault‑finding.
• Ability to design schemes of work, assessment plans and course documentation.
• Experience supporting learners through tutorials, pastoral care, and progress reviews.
• Familiarity with awarding‑body requirements, assessment standards and quality processes.
• Competence in managing course administration including enrolment, registers, data returns and reporting.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a teaching team and with cross‑college services.
• Experience engaging with employers and supporting work placements.

Qualifications

Essential:

• Minimum GCSE Grade 4 / C or Equivalent Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English
• Minimum level 3 NVQ qualification in the relevant area of expertise (Electrical Installation)

Desirable

• Electrical ECS Gold Card / AM2 Certificate
• Level 5 Teaching qualification (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe)
• Assessor and Moderator/IQA Award
• Latest amendment of 18th addition
• Relevant degree and/or appropriate level professional qualifications
