Dovetail and Slate is seeking an Electrical Installation Lecturer in Buckinghamshire to deliver practical and theoretical teaching across electrical installation programmes. The role suits experienced electricians transitioning to education or established FE lecturers seeking a new challenge.

Unqualified teachers are welcome; the Taking Teaching Further scheme supports on-the-job training, starting with the Level 3 Award in Education and Training and progressing to the Level 5 Diploma.

Electrical Installation Lecturer

Location: Buckinghamshire. Salary: £38,500 - £47,000 per annum (pro rata for fractional roles, including Industry Sector Payment). Hours: Full-Time, 35 hours per week. Contract: Permanent.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Electrical Installation Lecturer to join a leading Further Education college in Buckinghamshire within their Construction Department.

This position is ideal for an experienced electrician looking to transition into education, as well as established FE lecturers seeking a new role. You will deliver high-quality practical and theoretical teaching across electrical installation programmes, ensuring students develop strong technical skills, subject discipline, and positive progression into industry careers or further study.

Unqualified teachers are fully welcomed to apply. Through the Taking Teaching Further scheme, you will be fully supported to gain your recognised teaching qualifications on the job, starting with the Level 3 Award in Education and Training and progressing to the Level 5 Diploma.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, high-quality practical workshops and theoretical lectures for learners on Electrical Installation courses.
  • Plan, prepare, and structure effective learning programmes tailored to individual student needs, ensuring learners are stretched and challenged.
  • Integrate digital tools and modern teaching techniques to enhance student interaction and engagement.
  • Maintain strict workshop Health & Safety standards, risk assessments, and safe working practices at all times.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and industry-led initiatives to keep course content aligned with trade standards.
What We Are Looking For
  • Trade Experience: Strong practical background and up-to-date working knowledge in electrical installation.
  • Qualifications: Relevant Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification (or equivalent recognised trade background).
  • Teaching Status: Either a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DET) or a willingness to complete fully-funded teacher training on the job.
  • IT Competence: Proficient in basic IT tools and willing to learn educational software packages.
  • Key Attributes: Excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a real passion for sharing trade knowledge with young people and adult learners.
