Job summary

Southwark College in London is seeking a dedicated Lecturer in Computing to teach and support learners across IT and computing qualifications from Entry Level 3 to Level 3. The role covers teaching adults and 16–18-year-olds on programmes including T Level, BTEC Level 3, City & Guilds, OCN and Gateway.

The successful candidate will lead on course delivery, monitor attendance, progress and achievement, and report to the Curriculum Manager.

Qualifications

• Qualified Lecturer in Computing or equivalent
• Experience teaching IT and computing to FE learners
• Ability to plan and deliver schemes of learning and assessment

The successful applicant will lead on course delivery and take responsibility for supporting learner attendance, progress and achievement. Reporting to the Curriculum Manager, you will be committed to promoting high standards in teaching, learning and assessment.

This post requires a strong backgroundinComputer Science and IT related subjects teaching Computing and the candidate musthave proven track record of professional / vocational expertise in this sector.

You will be able to manage your workload effectively, meet deadlines and communicate confidently with learners, colleagues and stakeholders. The main duties of the post holder will include:

• Teach digital and computing subjects to 16-18 learners and adults using a range of effective teaching and learning
• Contribute to the review, planning and development of the digital curriculum at Southwark College.
• Work with the curriculum team to develop schemes of learning, lesson plans and high-quality teaching materials.
• Work with the digital team to devise and implement a range of assessment activities that support learner progress and achievement.
• Assess student work and provide constructive feedback that helps learners develop their skills and achieve their potential.
• Contribute to faculty strategies that improve student achievement, retention and overall learner experience.
