Southern Housing is seeking an experienced Major Works Billing & Consultation Officer to join our Specialist Leasehold Services team in London. You will manage major works consultation, billing, final accounts and maintain transparent records for compliance.

You will liaise with residents, contractors and colleagues to ensure accurate charges, timely notices and clear communication throughout the process. A proactive, detail‑oriented approach is essential to protect recoverability and service

Qualifications

• Experience in leasehold services, major works, service charges or property management.
• Understanding of Section 20 consultation requirements and Section 20B legislation.
• Experience reviewing and interpreting financial information, invoices and expenditure data.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex information clearly.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with residents, contractors and stakeholders.
• Experience managing competing priorities in a busy environment.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and housing/property management systems.
• GCSEs including English and Maths, or equivalent.
• Full driving licence or ability to travel between offices and properties.

Responsabilités

• Deliver major works consultation and billing activities in line with statutory requirements and internal procedures.
• Prepare and issue Section 20 consultation notices, major works bills and final accounts.
• Maintain accurate records and audit trails to support compliance and transparency.
• Review expenditure, invoices and supporting documentation to ensure costs are accurate and recoverable.
• Investigate billing queries and work with colleagues to resolve issues.
• Act as a specialist point of contact for residents and stakeholders, providing clear advice.
• Support complaint investigations, tribunal cases, member enquiries and complex queries.
• Identify and escalate financial, operational or compliance risks where necessary.
• Contribute to service improvements and enhance the customer experience.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of leasehold legislation and service charge recovery practices.
