Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking a Learning Support Teaching Assistant to support secondary-aged pupils in a Bristol secondary school (BS3). The role is full-time, term-time only, ASAP start, and long-term to the end of the academic year.

Working in the Learning Support Base, you will assist with classwork, organisation and pastoral support, helping students gain confidence, independence and positive learning habits.

  • Able to provide both academic and pastoral support.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work within the Learning Support Base to support pupils throughout the school day.
  • Help pupils with classwork, organisation or learning when they drop in.
  • Provide pastoral and emotional support to pupils facing difficulties.
  • Assist with developing confidence, independence and positive learning habits.
  • Build strong relationships with a wide range of secondary pupils.
  • Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral teams to ensure appropriate support.
  • Help maintain a calm, welcoming, and inclusive environment in the Learning Support Base.

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or SEND professional looking for a varied role supporting secondary-aged pupils? Axcis Education is working with a welcoming secondary school in BS3, Bristol, to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Teaching Assistant to join their Learning Support Base. The Learning Support Base provides a welcoming drop-in space for pupils who need additional academic, emotional or pastoral support during the school day. This is a varied role where every day can look different, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people and building positive relationships.

About the Role
  • Work within the school's Learning Support Base, providing support to pupils throughout the school day
  • Support students who drop in for additional help with classwork, organisation or learning
  • Provide pastoral and emotional support to pupils who may be experiencing difficulties
  • Help students develop confidence, independence and positive approaches to learning
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with a wide range of secondary-aged pupils
  • Work closely with teaching staff, the SENCO and pastoral teams to ensure pupils receive appropriate support
  • Help maintain a calm, welcoming and inclusive environment within the Learning Support Base
The Ideal Candidate
  • Has experience working with secondary-aged pupils, ideally within a school or SEND environment
  • Is approachable, patient and confident when supporting young people
  • Can provide both academic and pastoral support
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is adaptable and comfortable dealing with different situations throughout the day
  • Has experience supporting SEND, SEMH or additional needs (desirable but not essential)
  • Is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning
