Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Wheathampstead is seeking a Young Person's Mentor to support vulnerable learners during term-time. The role is full-time with a September 2026 start date and a temp-to-perm pathway. Pay ranges from £57 to £68 per day, inclusive of holiday pay.

You will build trusted relationships, deliver 1:1 and small-group mentoring, and assist students with social, emotional and behavioural needs in collaboration with teachers to foster a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people (schools, youth work, care, coaching, mental health, residential care, sports coaching or similar).
  • Calm, patient and resilient when faced with challenging situations.
  • Can build positive, professional relationships quickly.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Passionate about improving outcomes for young people.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

Hours: Monday to Friday | 11:00am – 3:00pm | Full-Time (Term Time Only)

We're looking for a compassionate, resilient, and proactive Young Person's Mentor to join our valued partner school in Wheathampstead. This is a rewarding opportunity to support vulnerable young people who may have experienced barriers to education, helping them build confidence, regulate their emotions, and re-engage with learning.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
