Job summary

Teaching Personnel are recruiting a dedicated Learning Support Assistant for a SEMH school in Colchester. You will provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs and assist teachers in delivering a tailored curriculum.

Ideal candidates are patient, resilient, and capable of building positive relationships with young people. A background in youth work or sports coaching is a bonus. Competitive weekly pay and CPD opportunities offered.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or SEND needs.
• Patient, resilient and able to build positive relationships.
• Calm under pressure and able to support pupils with emotional/behavioural needs.
• Passion for helping young people achieve positive outcomes.
• Previous sports coaching or PE interest is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
• Help pupils engage with learning and develop emotional regulation.
• Build strong, consistent relationships to support safety and motivation.
• Assist teachers in delivering a flexible, personalised curriculum.
• Encourage pupils to make positive choices and develop independence.
• Support behaviour management and maintain a calm learning environment.
