Job summary

Classroom Support is partnering with a specialist SEMH school in Chatham to recruit Learning Support Assistants on a temporary basis, with the potential for permanent contracts after a successful placement.

In this role you will provide 1:1 and small group academic and emotional support, help pupils regulate emotions, and work closely with teachers to create a safe, engaging learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEMH needs.
• Knowledge of positive behaviour management techniques.
• Experience mentoring or supporting vulnerable children in education or care settings.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small group support throughout the school day.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with students who have experienced trauma.
• Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
• Working closely with teachers and pastoral teams to create a safe learning environment.
• Acting as a positive role model, mentor and consistent adult for pupils.
• Encouraging resilience, independence and personal development.
