Job summary

Long Term Futures in Barnet is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a specialist SEN school, supporting secondary-aged boys with SEMH needs to engage with learning. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support, build positive relationships, help pupils regulate emotions, and work with teachers and therapists to deliver personalised assistance.

Experience in SEMH, youth work, or related backgrounds is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Learning Support Assistant or similar role.
• Experience supporting SEMH or behavioural needs is highly desirable.
• Calm, resilient and patient approach to behaviour management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent one-to-one and small group support for secondary-aged boys with SEMH needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships to promote engagement, resilience and confidence.
• Support pupils to regulate emotions and manage behaviour using restorative approaches.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs within the classroom.
• Record pupil progress and communicate effectively with the wider school team.
• Act as a positive role model inside and outside the classroom.
