Job summary

Argyll College UHI Limited in Rothesay is inviting applications for a Part-time Learning Support Assistant to support a student within the Student Services team. The role involves one-to-one assistance to help the student access learning and reach academic goals at the Rothesay Centre.

The post is fixed-term for 29 weeks with up to 14 hours per week, scheduled to fit the student timetable. PVG scheme membership is a requirement for successful applicants and prior DLPS experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, face-to-face support to a student in accordance with their Personal Learning Support Plan (PLSP) at our Rothesay Centre.
• Liaise with the Head of Student Services and the Student Support Officer to ensure appropriate support is provided.
• Assist the student in overcoming barriers to learning and achieving their educational goals.

Learning Support Assistant (Rothesay)

• Salary range £24,479 pro rata
• Duration Fixed-term post for 29 weeks (start date 19 October 2026)
• Location Rothesay centre
• Closing Date 04 October 2026

We are seeking to recruit a reliable Part-Time Learning Support Assistant to join our Student Services team and provide one-to-one support for a college student. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the student access learning and achieve their academic goals. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who values inclusive education and is committed to helping students overcome barriers to learning.

This position will be based at our Rothesay Centre for up to 14 hours per week, with working hours arranged to meet the student's timetable.

This is a fixed-term post for 29 weeks, from a proposed start date of 19 October 2026 or as soon after as is practicable.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct, face-to-face support to a student in accordance with their Personal Learning Support Plan (PLSP)at our Rothesay Centre.
• Liaise with the Head of Student Services and the Student Support Officer to ensure appropriate support is provided.
• Assist the student in overcoming barriers to learning and achieving their educational goals.

About You

The successful candidate will be able to work empathetically and sensitively with students. You should possess:

• A good level of education to Higher level or above.

Previous experience of providing additional learning support is desirable but not essential.
