Job summary

The Learning Support Assistant (LSA) role is based at an Enfield centre of a large further education college. You will support post-16 students across foundation, vocational and academic courses, including learners with Autism (ASD) and ADHD, in class and 1:1 settings.

The role emphasises developing independence and life skills while maintaining student engagement. Experience with SEND and a proactive, collaborative approach with teaching staff is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting students aged 16–24 with SEND (Autism/ADHD)
• Ability to provide in-class and 1:1 support
• Team Teach training would be an advantage
• Experience or training in administering emergency epilepsy medication desirable
• Commitment to promoting learners' independence and wellbeing

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom and 1:1 support to post-16 students with SEND
• Support learners with ASD/ADHD and complex needs
• Provide individualised support to access learning and college life
• Help students stay engaged and focused during lessons
• Assist students to access curriculum and develop confidence and life skills
• Work with teaching staff and professionals to provide effective support
• Encourage positive behaviour and manage dysregulated behaviours
• Support a range of academic, vocational and functional courses
• Provide personal and medical support as needed per individual plans
