Job summary

Outcomes First Group seeks a Learning Support Assistant for maternity cover at Crookhey Hall School in Lancaster. The role supports pupils with learning access, working with teachers and therapists to create a nurturing environment. You will help pupils build confidence and independence while contributing to individual plans and safeguarding practices.

Fixed-term contract until July 2027, term-time hours, start September 2026. Salary £22,160.62 per year, UK applicants only with no sponsorship.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or equivalent.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils one-to-one, in small groups and in class to access learning and meet goals.
• Deliver engaging, personalised learning experiences with teachers.
• Encourage confidence, communication, independence and wellbeing.
• Build positive relationships to help pupils feel safe and valued.
• Prepare learning resources and support an inclusive classroom environment.

Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday to Friday | 8.30am to 4.00pm

Salary: £22,160.62 per annum (not pro rata)

Contract: Fixed term until July 2027 | Term Time Only

What you’ll do:

• Support pupils on a one-to-one basis, in small groups and within the classroom to help them access learning and achieve their individual goals.
• Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging, personalised learning experiences.
• Encourage pupils' confidence, communication, independence and emotional wellbeing.
• Build positive, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
• Prepare learning resources and support a creative, inclusive classroom environment.
• Monitor and celebrate pupil progress, contributing to individual learning plans where appropriate.
• Support educational visits and, where required, transport pupils to enhance learning opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families to achieve the best outcomes for every pupil.
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people.

What we’re looking for:

• Is passionate about helping children and young people achieve their potential.
• Is caring, patient and resilient, with a positive and nurturing approach.
• Enjoys building positive relationships and working as part of a supportive team.
• Is adaptable, proactive and able to respond to individual pupil needs.
• Holds GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or equivalent).
• Holds a Full UK Driving Licence.

Experience working with children or young people is desirable, but not essential. If you have transferable skills from education, care, youth work, residential care, coaching or support work and a genuine passion for making a difference, we’ll provide the training and support you need to succeed.
