Job summary

Bluebank School, part of Outcomes First Group, seeks a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with complex needs. You’ll provide personalised assistance, build trust, and help the pupil access learning and daily activities within a supportive team.

Start in September 2026, with a permanent term-time role and a focus on safeguarding and pupil welfare. The role offers 37.5 hours weekly, Monday to Friday, 8.30am–4.00pm, at Bluebank School in Derbyshire, with a salary of £22,160.62 per

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support, helping a pupil access learning and work towards individual goals.
  • Build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil.
  • Adapt activities to support communication, learning, emotional and social needs.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement throughout the school day.
  • Support the pupil across classroom, outdoor activities and educational visits.
  • Work with teachers, therapists, families and professionals for consistent support.
  • Track progress and contribute to individual support plans and reviews.

Job Title: 1-1 Teaching Assistant

Location: Bluebank School, Whittington Moor, Derbyshire, S41 8LQ

Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday-Friday | 8.30am - 4.00pm

Salary: £22,160.62 per annum (not pro rata)

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

Start: September 2026

About the Role

At Bluebank School, we're looking for a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide personalised support to a pupil with additional and complex needs. This is more than a classroom support role. You'll become a trusted and consistent presence in a young person’s school day, helping them overcome barriers, discover their strengths and develop the confidence, independence and skills they need for the future. You'll be part of a supportive team who will work alongside you, helping you develop your skills and giving you the opportunity to see the real difference your work makes.

What you will be doing
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support, helping a pupil access learning and work towards their individual goals.
  • Build a positive, trusting relationship, providing consistency, encouragement and reassurance.
  • Adapt activities and approaches to support the pupil’s communication, learning, emotional and social needs.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, communication and positive engagement throughout the school day.
  • Support the pupil across a variety of settings, including classroom learning, outdoor activities, enrichment and educational visits.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, families and other professionals to provide consistent, personalised support.
  • Track progress, celebrate achievements and contribute to individual support plans and reviews.
