Job summary

Milk Education is seeking Learning Support Assistants to work across partner schools in Manchester on a day-to-day, short-term, long-term or temp-to-perm basis starting September 2026. You will gain experience across year groups, supporting teachers with engaging activities and helping pupils reach learning goals.

Role requires passion for children’s development, excellent communication and an adaptable, reliable approach to working across different school environments.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in education, care, or similar settings.
  • Qualification such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Supporting Teaching and Learning is desirable.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective learning activities across the curriculum.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils to help them achieve learning goals.
  • Support pupils with their academic, social and emotional development.
  • Provide additional support for pupils with SEND and adapt activities to meet individual needs.
  • Help create a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support positive behaviour and encourage pupils to develop confidence and independence.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, teachers and school staff.
  • Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of learning resources.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other staff to meet pupils’ needs.
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of children and young people.

Your main responsibilities will include:

Requirements or Skills:
  • Previous experience working with children or young people within an education, care or similar setting.
  • A relevant qualification such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant, Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent is desirable.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND is desirable.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning, development and wellbeing.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • A flexible, adaptable and reliable approach to working across different school environments.
  • The ability to quickly build positive relationships with pupils and school staff.
  • Confident supporting positive behaviour and maintaining a calm learning environment.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
