Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a passionate Learning Support Assistant to join a Primary School in North Durham, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:30am to 3:30pm, helping pupils develop independence and confidence in learning.

Successful candidates will bring a genuine passion for children, strong communication skills, and a positive attitude. School experience and Level 2/3 childcare qualifications are preferred but not mandatory.

Qualifications

  • A real passion for working with children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm for supporting children's learning.
  • Recent experience working in a school or education setting preferred.
  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in childcare or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Encouraging independence by helping pupils develop communication and self-management skills.
  • Providing one-to-one or small group assistance to learners.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and other professionals.
  • Maintaining safeguarding and confidentiality, following school policies.

The role:
  • Monday - Friday
  • 8:30am - 3:30pm
  • £107.71 a day
Support Assistant - Requirements or Skills:
  • A real passion for working with children
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm for supporting children's learning
  • Recent experience working in a school or education setting (preferred)
  • A Level 2 or 3 qualification in childcare, education or similar — or equivalent hands‑on experience (preferred)
Support Assistant - Main Responsibilities:
